Sapiens Design came to life in Milan through the collaboration of two accomplished designers, Alessandro Mattia and Gloria Gianatti. Both graduates from the Milan Polytechnic, Alessandro specialized in Product Design and Gloria in Interior Design, showcasing their expertise and passion for their respective fields.

Gloria Gianatti, after completing her studies in Interior Design at the renowned Milan Polytechnic, ventured to Mexico City where she undertook an apprenticeship. It was during her time there that she was truly captivated by the mesmerizing interplay of natural light, which breathed life into the materials and colors of the Mexican landscape.

Upon returning to Italy, Gloria resolved to delve further into her fascination with light, intertwining it with her inherent passion for photography and cinema. Consequently, she pursued specialization in Photography Direction, Photo and Video Editing, and even became an assistant in the "Culture of Cinema" course at the prestigious Movie Design program at Politecnico di Milano.

These varied interests and experiences have a profound influence on Gloria's design research. She exhibits an unwavering attention to detail, an unwavering focus on the dynamic relationship between light and shadow, and an acute awareness of the pivotal significance of the bond between humans, objects, and the surrounding space - all of which form the bedrock of every project she undertakes.

Alessandro Mattia, equipped with a degree in Industrial Design from the esteemed Milan Polytechnic, embarked on his professional journey with a holistic approach that encompasses all facets of the creative process. His attention is particularly focused on the functional and emotional significance of products, as well as their sustainability, recognizing the importance of considering these aspects.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of innovation, Alessandro relentlessly researches and experiments with new ideas. Each project becomes an opportunity to explore fresh perspectives, enabling him to craft creative solutions that adapt to the ever-changing landscape of contemporary living.

The exceptional career of Gloria Gianatti and Alessandro Mattia, founders of Sapiens Design Studio, is punctuated with accolades and exhibitions both in Italy and overseas. Their notable achievements include the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2019, as well as two A'design Awards in 2020 and 2021, the latter being specifically for their acclaimed Pan coat rack created for Nestart. Throughout their work, the duo emphasizes the inherent interaction between subject and object, seeking to establish a symbiotic relationship between the two.
